The Role:
APC is seeking friendly and outgoing Banquet Servers who will report to the Manager, Banquets & Catering. The Banquet Server will work with the Food Services Team to deliver great service and quality products to ensure our guests have a wonderful experience that exceeds their expectations. The Banquet Server will set up venues for a function or event prior to the guest’s arrival and tear down the venue when the guests have left.
The Banquet Server may also be required at times to be a Banquet Bartender. The Banquet Server/Bartender is required to ensure the safe and healthy preparation of food & beverage items and proper sanitation techniques are being met at all times to avoid cross-contamination and the spoiling of food and beverages under the direction of the Executive Chef.
APC is offering a flexible work schedule including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Banquet servers are the foundation of any well-run event; they skillfully combine precision service with hospitality to meet guests’ needs with efficiency and grace. Their primary responsibility is to plan and carry out events with great care, from weddings and business gatherings to galas and festivities.
They have to start with setting up the event area, which requires meticulous attention to detail. Banquet servers provide a welcoming ambiance that sets the tone for an unforgettable event, from setting out exquisite place settings and décor to arranging tables and chairs. This careful planning guarantees that visitors go into a room that is not only beautiful to look at, but also practical and warm.
During the event, banquet servers transition into the role of attentive hosts, guiding guests through their dining experience with professionalism and warmth. Whether serving plated meals with precision or managing bustling buffet lines with finesse, they ensure that each guest is attended to with care. Their ability to anticipate needs, accommodate special requests, and maintain a seamless flow of service is essential in creating a positive and memorable experience for all attendees.
Communication and collaboration are key pillars of a banquet server’s role. They work closely with fellow staff members, including chefs, bartenders, and event planners, to coordinate timing, manage guest preferences, and address any challenges that may arise. By fostering a spirit of teamwork and mutual support, banquet servers contribute to the smooth operation of the event and the overall satisfaction of guests.
Qualifications of Banquet Server:
- High school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
- Smart Choices Certificate required.
- 1 year of related experience preferable.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks at once.
- Ability to work with management staff and other colleagues in a professional manner.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints
- Demonstrate an understanding of food, food ingredients, and food preparation methods.
- Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings, holidays and have a flexible schedule as well as be able to work past midnight.
- Prior banquets and/or bartending experience an asset.
- Drivers’ license an asset.
- Food Handlers Certificate an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
