Laborer – Packaging laborers are essential to manufacturing and warehousing operations; they pack items meticulously so that they are ready.ASR Group is the world’s largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar, with an annual production capacity of more than 6 million tons of sugar. The Laborer – Packaging may be assigned to a variety of packing, cleaning or reprocessing positions. The Packaging Laborer may be assigned to any station or location in the Packaging Department. This is an entry level position requiring continuous heavy labor activities. Assignments may include repetitive hand, arm, and body movements.
Laborer – Packaging laborers are essential to manufacturing and warehousing operations; they pack items meticulously so that they are ready for delivery. With meticulous assembly, packing, and labeling, they make sure the things are safely packed to avoid damage during transportation. Workers may also apply labels or barcodes to packed goods in addition to handling a variety of packing materials like boxes, bags, and shrink wrap. They must pay close attention to details in order to keep their workspace tidy and check items for flaws. They play a crucial part in maintaining efficient packing operations by working together with team members, following safety procedures, and effectively managing inventory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Position performs necessary function required to package, seal and convey sugar packages and various packing station producing product in weights from 1 to 2000 pounds.
- Station tasks could include check weighing, cutting-in of damage packages, station cleaning, sorting and stacking of station materials and packaging containers, lifting packaged materials weighing 24 to 50 pounds for hand palletizing and check weighing and other tasks as assigned.
- Operates industrial hand truck to transport palletized materials.
- Reliable and Predictable In-Person Attendance
- Able to work overtime on a daily and weekly basis
- Rotating shifts, day, swing, and graveyard, on a bi-weekly basis is required. Overtime is required on a daily and weekly basis as scheduled.
- Positions require standing and walking 6-8+ hours per day, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to grasp, push, and pull.
- Position is required to wear PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection and hard hat.
- Packaging stations are noisy (hearing protection is required) and conditions associated with a food packing environment. Packaging Laborer is exposed to refined sugar and sugar dust, cleaning soaps, lubricants and work around moving equipment.
Laborer – Packaging Qualification
- A high school diploma or a comparable credential.
- Although prior experience in a packing or warehousing setting is desired, persons without experience may still be able to find entry-level jobs.
- Proven capacity to adhere to specific guidelines and function well in a group setting.
- the physical endurance and strength to carry out monotonous activities including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
- packing duties must be completed accurately and with attention to detail to guarantee that items are handled and packaged properly.
- knowledge of common packaging supplies and tools, including shrink wrap machines, tape dispensers, and boxes.
- a readiness to pick up new skills and go through safety and equipment operation training while operating packing machinery under supervision.
- Essential arithmetic abilities for precise material measurement, weighing, and counting.
- Cooperation with team members and adherence to supervisory orders need effective communication skills.
