VP Corporate Controller About the Job
We currently have an exciting opportunity for VP Corporate Controller on the Tailored Brands Accounting team. Reporting to the CAO, the VP Corporate Controller will play a critical leadership role in our Finance and Accounting organization. This person will be a strategic thought partner to the CAO and other business leaders, driving financial excellence across the organization.
The VP Corporate Controller will lead the Company’s close processes while ensuring compliance with GAAP, adhering to deadlines, and promoting the continuous improvement of the accounting, accounts payable, inventory control teams, and related processes, and systems. This is a senior leadership position that requires a deep understanding of retail finance, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest financial standards.
Key Accountabilities
Accounting and Compliance:
- Lead the general accounting function, including merchandise inventory, fixed assets and leases, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and sales audit functions.
- Manage the monthly close process, including projections processes, and distribution of internal financial statements, accounting analytics, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP. Provide support and analysis to the CAO and other accounting leaders in the creation of new policies and procedures, or revisions to the existing accounting policies and procedures.
- Jointly responsible for the timely and successful completion of internal and external audits.
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
- Implement effective internal controls and risk management procedures to safeguard company assets.
Business partnership:
- Serve as a key partner to the business by understanding and communicating the accounting and finance implications of various strategies and transactions.
Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate and implement new processes, financial systems, and technologies to streamline processes and enhance capabilities.
Team Leadership:
- Build and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Set clear objectives, provide coaching and mentorship, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience
- An undergraduate degree in accounting is required, with strong preference given to individuals with a master’s degree in accounting or business administration.
- CPA license (active) is required.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with previous experience as a Controller or equivalent leading a strong and high-performing team in medium to large public or private enterprise, as well as public accounting experience.
- Experience in progressive accounting roles with companies in the retail or manufacturing industries preferred.
- Strong understanding of complex accounting topics, such as leases, revenue recognition, and other matters required.
- Experience designing, building, implementing, and managing process and system improvement efforts to drive process efficiencies and improved quality, with large ERP (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP) experience required.
- Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment balancing accounting and finance strategic objectives with excellent day-to-day process execution by the team.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to link business operations or strategic objectives with accounting activities, convey a message that is clear and concise, and motivate high performance through execution by him/herself and others.

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily.
- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, from a remote office location

The starting salary for this position is $182,400 – $275,000 and may increase to $304,000 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Other compensation may include a 30% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) bonus paid out according to policy. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
